Flag note with leader not updating

Flag note with leader not updating

I have a datum line element which I have named as Line segment 1 using the flag note with leader. When this datum line element is replaced by another and a local update is made, the flag note disappears and an exclamation mark appears on it under annotations. What option should I change/do to make it automatically take the new geometry ?

RE: Flag note with leader not updating

1. Right-click the Flag Note, choose Associated Geometry and click the Geometry Connection Management

2. on the left-side of the panel, right-click the ? and choose the Connect option. Then select the new line, and OK

3. click OK to close the Connection Management panel, and click NO to check the validity. (on my machine (R18), clicking YES, doesn't seem to do anything)

RE: Flag note with leader not updating

oops - here's better instructions:

1. Right-click the Flag Note, choose Associated Geometry and click the Geometry Connection Management

2. on the left-side of the panel, right-click the ? and choose the Connect option. Then select the new line, and OK

3. click Check Validity box, and verify current validity is OK

4. click OK to close the Connection Management panel

Hello jackk, thank you for your reply. I dont see any ? on the left side of the Connection Management Panel. All I see is a tree which is named as Group of Surfaces and so on. Right clicking there only presents me with two options namely, add component and replace.

Furthermore, if I get this worked out, will the new line segment be automatically tagged with a flag note or should I do this process again ?

I'm using R18, which release are you using?

Based on your description of what's being displayed in the Connection panel, it sounds like the Flag Note is still linked to something. So I'm not sure what the explanation mark means. I'm seeing a '?' which means Flag Note is not connected to anything.

Try right-clicking the Flag Note with the explanation mark and choose the Diagnostic Report. There might be clue there (if you can understand it).

How did you "replace" the line that the Flag Note was originally attached to?

Sorry about the double post, but the Check Validity button is inactive as well.

RE: Flag note with leader not updating

The 'KO' notation on the right-side means something is not OK - run the Diagnostic Report for more information.

The '?' on the left-side mean several things are no longer connected - either reconnect them, or remove them.

When you reconnect something, the Check Validity button will be active to allow you to check it's validity.

Two last comments:

1. If you use REPLACE to replace the old line with the new one, the note will automatically reconnect to the new line.

2. Flag Notes are intended to be used with hyperlinks. If you just want to label a datum line, you should use the DATUM tool (if you have the 3D FT&A license). Or, use the TEXT WITH LEADER tool (if you don't have FTA), and add a Frame to make it look like a datum callout.
