I'm still fighting the problem to model a cutterpath.
I've attached a part. The people from the cam dep. drive crazy. Does anybody have an idea?

RE: model a perfect cutter path

Try using the wrap/unwrap curve & wrap geometry commands.

RE: model a perfect cutter path

This is a similar example using the wrap command.

RE: model a perfect cutter path

This looks like one of those examples that if you could sweep a solid you would be done in 2 minutes. However, with the tools available, it may be very difficult or impossible to get that 'perfect' model.

It always helps to let us know what version on NX you are using

Search the forum for recent similar posts I know that I modelled the exact same think with that end in mind quite recently.

I have attached what I produced for this stud end which looks for all the world similar to your example. The trick is the same as I'd use for the adjacent thread sweep question.

thanx to all your input so far.
@hudson, I knew haven't forgotten the old thread.
I haven't had no really satisfying answer. One thing works is to create holes normal along the cutter path but thats very poor solution. The sweep and law extension thicken sheet, divide surface and thicken sheet are not really the solution.
I looking for something like sweep volume solution. Sweep the hole along the cutter path. Maybe it is only an special sweep creation setting I don't know. The cam dep. on *** ster cam points it as a lack of...

RE: model a perfect cutter path

FYI what I have offered you models the sides of the groove quite accurately indeed. The bottom of the groove may be a slightly different matter. I suppose it may be done once understood but I have never found a real reason to justify doing such a thing.

I'm using nx 6. 03
@hudson thank you - the example with the holefeatures is closest to my need but very laborious

RE: model a perfect cutter path

Yes you need to construct no less than four curves for a sweep that has three guides and a spine curve to get the accuracy that you need. Laborious but one you know how to get the construction curves not too hard to manage.
