Any other vault admin had trouble with SW 2009 SP 4.1 PDMWorkgroups Vault admin not loading properly? I recently had a reformat done on my machine, now whenever I load the admin the GUI doesn't come up. The process is running, but nothing else. Any ideas?

Joe, sounds like reg files are missing. Also, why did you load the hotfix SP4.1? You might want to consider going back to SP4.0. This is all I can sugguest for now.

Colin,

I actually rolled my install back to 0.0 to see if it made a difference, to no avail. Though now that you mention the registry thing...I need to check something, I'll let you knwo what I find out.

Well Colin, you were right, it was a registry issue. Trend Micro wasn't disabled prior to install. If it's not bad things happen with anything you would install with SW. Never had these problems with Norton.

I used to have nothing but problems with Norton. It is now banned from every PC I administer.

We never had an issue with Norton. We switched to Trend a few weeks back and have had nothing but problems.

RE: PDMW Vault Admin not loading properly

Are you sure you 100% eliminated all traces of Norton. One of my biggest gipes with Norton was how difficult it was to completely uninstall ... and those traces sometimes played havoc with other stuff.

I've only a passing experience of Trend so cannot confirm or deny its suitability.

Norton is conspicuous by its absence from this Top 10 Review.

My machine was reformatted and completely reinstalled last Thursday, so I'm certain that Norton hasn't survived. As a matter of fact, most of the problems we've had have been directly related to Trend on clean installs. One of my guys couldn't use the default look up function in an Open dialog (start typing the name of the file you want in, Windows gives you a small list of files that fit what you've type) until an exception was added to Trend to allow SW to call this Windows function. Apparently the way SW wrote the call for that function looked like a Trojan.
