SW 2010 Bragsite

RE: SW 2010 Bragsite

I've just bought SW 2009, now there's 2010! Will it be possible to upgrade the features/software of 2009 so that it becomes 2010, so I don't need to buy the new program.

Hope this makes sense.

thnx

RE: SW 2010 Bragsite

If you paid for subscription support you will automatically receive the SW2010 upgrade.

RE: SW 2010 Bragsite

BTW, never do an upgrade from one version to another!

Unless you want access to both 2009 and 2010, do a clean uninstall of 2009 before installing 2010.

RE: SW 2010 Bragsite

The component sort in assemblies is a big FOOBAR.

What about performance?

RE: SW 2010 Bragsite

I find that 2006 and 2008 were a bit more stable than 2009. I hope for improvements on stability with 2010.

RE: SW 2010 Bragsite

The updated What's New PDF:
http://files.solidworks.com/campaigns_global/2009/launch/SW_2010_Whats_New_DS_ENG.pdf

I like the line at the bottom of the first page, "Keep your subscription current to optimize your investment in SolidWorks."  Uh--any news on the new, flexible, a-la-carte subscription service options everyone's clamoring about?  It's been a year since the disastrous Richard Welch fiasco about this whole topic, and I don't see any of the promised flexibility coming around.  Maybe it takes longer than a year to put together something so complex, such as "pay a little less if you don't need technical support"?

RE: SW 2010 Bragsite

Yaaay!

RE: SW 2010 Bragsite

I'm sure lots of subscribers (especially new ones) get their moneys worth. That return diminishes rapidly as users become more experienced with SW, and need less hand-holding from VARs.

RE: SW 2010 Bragsite

Actually, the mega-installations get their money's worth. For customers with 100s of seats there are SW employees assigned just to keep them happy.

Who's going to hold SW responsible? SW squeezes the VARs all the time and has been doing so for some time.
