Does anyone who has taken the SE I and II exams know if you can bring the Sructural Engineering Reference Manual to the exams? (ISBN: 978-159126-119-3)

It is an open book exam but I understand there are some limitations as well. Any help with this is appreciated.

Thanks, is there a guideline that spells this out?

RE: Books allowed for SE Exam

At the bottom of the attached web page.

http://www.ncees.org/exams/calculators/

"This includes, for example, restricting cell phones, certain calculators, pencils, loose sheets of paper, and recording devices; controlling access into and out of the exam site; and monitoring activity in and around the exam room."

Hope it helps.

That helps, thanks!

RE: Books allowed for SE Exam

It is my understanding that Illinois does not allow any type of exam reference or study books, at least not for the SE II. Also, copies of material are not allowed (not that any of us would copy copyrighted material). I didn't take the SE I there, so I'm not sure what material is allowed for it. You may want to check directly with the state where you will be taking the exam.

RE: Books allowed for SE Exam

DAVE9999,

The NCEES has its limitations, but some state boards are more stringent.

You should check with the your local board.

RE: Books allowed for SE Exam

I took everything in - nobody checked...
