Calculation of optional integral flanges acc. ASME VIII Div.1 App.2

Calculation of optional integral flanges acc. ASME VIII Div.1 App.2

Calculation of optional integral flanges acc. ASME VIII Div.1 App.2

(OP)
Calculation of flange acc. to 2-4(9), pipe wall considered
to act as a unit with the flange.
Is it OK to calculate the flange/pipe unit as an optional integral flange even though there isn´t a full penetration weld between the pipe and flange, using loadings and dimensions acc. to fig. 2-4(7).
Weld dimensions at face acc. to fig. 2-4(9) and back of flange acc. to fig. 2-4(8).
Fillet weld at back of flange considered to act as a hub (dimensions:h&g1)

RE: Calculation of optional integral flanges acc. ASME VIII Div.1 App.2

Thruxton500,
The code says that flanges fabricated as per 2-4(9) may be designed as integral flanges using the sketch 2-4(7). Even if the weld is partial penetration, as shown on the sketch 2-4(9).
The fillet weld at the back of the flange, together with the pipe wall thickness are acting as a hub (h, g1 and g0), so you got it right.
Cheers,
