In what edition of ASME SEC.IX did the Welder Performance Qualification thickness of weld metal qualified in the coupon become 1/2in. & over qualifies for Max to be welded. I believe before it was 3/4in. Your input is always appreciated

2000 addenda of Section IX.

Don't forget it also requires a minimum of 3 layers of weld in addition to the 1/2" of weld deposit per process.  This would need to be recorded on the Performance Qualification Record for the welder to be qualified for unlimited thickness.
