Does anyone know according to ASME. At present i am working on the welding of the pipes in a compressor Terminal ie butt joints. In ASME we can weld group 1 to group 1 or group 1 to group 2. But surely we cannot weld say group 1 to group 8. So where is does the limits end.Or is it we can weld group 1 to group 8 as long as we run the procedure and all passes the mechanical tests.
Thanks
Merlin (mechanical)

merlin000;
Do YOU have a copy of ASME Power Piping (B31.xx applicable for this project) and ASME B&PV Code, Section IX. If not, I would strongly suggest you obtain these important standards.
