seismic loads on buried structures
seismic loads on buried structures
(OP)
I live and work in a low seismic zone, but i'm involved in designing a product that may be used in active seismic regions (e.g., California). I can find very few good references on seismic loadings for buried structures. I realize that loadings will be highly dependant on soil conditions at each specific site, but can anyone give me general directions on criteria for design loads?
Could a static analysis be used or will dynamic analysis be required? What acceleration coefficient would be appropriate?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

RE: seismic loads on buried structures
Whether you have to do static or dynamic analysis depends upon the the type and importance of the structure you are working with.
