Smart Grid - AMI & DA Wireless RF Networks

Smart Grid - AMI & DA Wireless RF Networks

(OP)
Related to electric utility Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) projects, whereby revenue meters communicate to the utility via a wireless RF network, are other U.S. utilties considering using this same RF network for traditional distribution automation applications (i.e. wireless RF communication to reclosers, regulators, cap banks, etc.) or is an entirely separate RF network being considered for DA applications?

Details on the reasons for using same network for both AMI & DA versus separate networks would be appreciated.  As background, the U.S. utility I work for is installing separate networks for AMI and DA applications at this time.
