hi,
I'm looking for an equation to calculate the length of a spiral link in a pile. Any takers?

thanks

RE: spiral link formula needed

Dear Stupidcupid

To calculate the length of one complete turn of the spiral you will need to decide on:

C = circumference of the ring you are winding the spiral around,
H = the height of drop of the spiral in one complete turn.

The spiral length L is  L= (H^2 + C^2)^0.5
Then divide the pile length by H to get the number of turns 'N'

The total length of your spiral is then   N x L.
