Delete references

Delete references

(OP)
It's been a few years that I have done this.
SolidWorks 2009 SP3.0.

I did a pack and go for an assembly. I opened the new assy, some parts are still referencing an old assy. Both assy's are same version and SP.
I can not find within SW or SW Explorer how to delete the reference.
I thought it was easily done in 2006.
I tried selecting 'references' when opening the part.
There is no option anywhere.

RE: Delete references

The only way I know to actually delete references is from within the model's sketches.

You can Lock, Unlock or Break the references via right-clicking the part in the FM and selecting the List External References option.

Note: The option is only available if Ext Refs exists.

Thanks CBL.
I have looked at the FM and tried to delete them, but it does not allow me. Maybe I need to upgrade to SP4.1?
I have been having a lot of issues since loading 3.0. It could be because I have been away from SW a while, a little rusty... sleeping

RE: Delete references

When you are in the open dialog box there should be a references button.  Click that and I think you can break all external references there.

DEddie,
I looked there and it does not allow the option for me to delete.

RE: Delete references

Ctopher, did you find the solution to this?  I ask as I'm about to have to do the same sort of thing...

RE: Delete references

Chris, I agree with Matt on this.

Thanks.
Yes, I have found Matt's suggestion to work.
Wish it were easier...
