Scrubber Capacity
Scrubber Capacity
(OP)
Hi,
I have a suction scrubber with design capacity 7600 ltrs and on debottlenecking , I increase the compressor from 1.5 MSm3/d to 2.5 MSm3/d by decreasing the discharge pressure of compressor and keep suction pressure as constant.Compressor is located downstream to scrubber and this is used in gas processing unit.
Will I need to look into scrubber capacity and I am in the opinion that scrubber takes as much gas it can and its capacity is limited by compressor capacity.
If so,What other things I need to take care and also please help me the resource for sizing scrubber.
Thanks in advance.Appreciate your reply in this regard.

RE: Scrubber Capacity
Look up the Sounder Brown equation. If you have a secondary means of removing liquids out of the gas stream such as a mesh pad or vane pack in the separator, those will allow you to handle more gas through the same sized vessel compared to one without those devices.
RE: Scrubber Capacity
Will it means that the scrubber efficieny is low and there will be liquid entraintment.
