Question!! I got a DC motor that has quit on me ....I meggered it ...

+ to G  is 430M ohms
- to G is 2M ohms
+ to - is 350M ohms

doesn't seems right to me, am I doing it wrong ??? is there a difference on testing AC and DC motors??

RE: DC motor testing

You sure about those numbers? What are the motor ratings? What voltage did you test at? What was your PI? What was winding temp at time of test?

RE: DC motor testing

looks like an open winding

RE: DC motor testing

(OP)
Motor infor:

1/4 HP
12VDC
2600RPM
Tested at 250V
I did not do the PI,
the testing enviorment temperture I would say it was about 95 degree F

RE: DC motor testing

Perhaps the brushes are worn out?

RE: DC motor testing

350 MegOhms from + to - looks like an open. Second to roydm, check the brushes.
