Radial loads on journal bearings

Radial loads on journal bearings

(OP)
Hi guys.

Is it possible to calculate the radial loads on an overhung centrifugal compressor's journal bearings ?

RE: Radial loads on journal bearings

should be.  For the bulk loading I'd probably reach for a general-purpose mechanical dynamics software package w/3D capability (ADAMS or VALDYN or similar).  For the details of the oil film pressure and localized loading within the bearing, I'd apply the bulk loading (and bearing compliance info) to a bearing analysis tool like ORBIT.  It's possible that I don't understand the details of what you're looking for, though, or simply am not quite picturing the setup.
