Weldment Error

Weldment Error

Weldment Error

(OP)
I am new to weldments, and I made a simple frame.  Everything looks good, but when I go to modify the structural member feature, a little tool-tip-like window appears near the cursor, saying "Failed to trim weld members or apply a gap because of geometric conditions".  After a few seconds it just goes away.

I did not do any explicit trim operations, just the built-in corner treatments.  No gaps either.  No other errors in the Feature Tree. Just one 3D sketch and one structural member feature(26 members).

Is this just a benign bug, or do I have a real problem?

Thanks,

Steve

RE: Weldment Error

How are you trying to modify the member?

What version of SW?

Can you post the weldment or at least images of it?

RE: Weldment Error

I don't know what the problem is, but it appears to be caused by the Group6 members. Once they are deleted, the error message is not given.

RE: Weldment Error

(OP)
I deleted Group6, then recreated it as Group10 using the same 3D sketch elements.  The squares came out rotated, so I rotated them back 45 degrees.  The error came up, and I narrowed it down to one member.  See attachment.

If I play with the corner treatment trim order (make both gussets a 2) I can make the artifact go away, and the error goes away.

Of course, I played the same trick on the original model, got rid of the artifact, but still had the error.  Another deep mystery of modeling software.

Thanks,

Steve
