Does anyone know of a good way to accurately depict the beginning of an internal thread using Pro Engineer wildfire 2.0? I have created a helical sweep but the end of the thread isn't exactly how it would appear. See attatched photo.

RE: modeling thread

If you create a detailed thread, doesn't it do the thread accurately?
My guess is you haven't carried the sweep far enough to get to the top surface.

RE: modeling thread

Extend your direction vector line past the top surface of the part and it should be OK.

RE: modeling thread

just like cutting it on a lathe.. you have to lead into it

RE: modeling thread

I think the previous posts are accurate, but do not necessarily detail how to fix your problem.

In order to show the thread using one feature, it will need to be a cut.  It seems you have created it as a solid/boss.  In order to transition it properly, create an extrusion or revolution at the desired point to cut the threaded portion.  This may involve extending the threaded portion above where it is currently placed and cut it.

I hope this has been helpful.
