Drawing Naming Standards

Drawing Naming Standards

Drawing Naming Standards

(OP)
As an electrical design firm typically involved in commercial power, are there any published standards for naming drawings that we should be following?  I believe most firms in our region follow an AIA variation but we are currently revisiting our standards due to BIM and I wanted to get a feel for what has been published.  Unfortunately I am not finding much on the web.

Any links, suggestions, opinions, etc. is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Mike

RE: Drawing Naming Standards

Since you're in the U.S., try looking at the National CAD Standard 4.0 to see if it meets your needs. It has conventions for naming drawings.

RE: Drawing Naming Standards

Hi CipeOne,

xnuke's answer is a good one.

For more, try posting this in the Drafting Standards, GD&T & Tolerance Analysis forum under Engineering Standards on this site.  Lots of old pros there.

Good on ya,
