Lofting a circle on a spiral with intersecting geometry?

Lofting a circle on a spiral with intersecting geometry?

Lofting a circle on a spiral with intersecting geometry?

(OP)
I am trying to loft a small cirlce outwards on a spiral to a large circle.  about half way through the loft I start getting intersecting geometry due to the growing radius (this is what I want.)

I've been trying everything I can think of for about 20 hours now and CAN NOT get solidworks to accept intersecting geometry or any type of work around to solve my problem.

Any ideas would be very much appreaciated.

Thanks Matt

RE: Lofting a circle on a spiral with intersecting geometry?

Is the spiral path on a single plane, or is it like a coil spring?

RE: Lofting a circle on a spiral with intersecting geometry?

Sounds like you need to create a guide curve. If you try to loft two circles they will often end up twisted, depending on the starting point of each circle. One guide curve should fix this up.

The way I read it Matt wants the intersecting bodies.  Our R & D department has requested to be able to do the same thing.  This is a limitation and should be entered in as an enhancement request.
