Quality Control Manager

Quality Control Manager

Quality Control Manager

(OP)
Have a new person moving into the QC Manager position for our in-house Section VIII Div 1 code shop.  The person has no experience in this area.  What tools, classes or other learning methods are available for him?  Anyone know of some good sources?  Is there something that would help define what the position should entail?

Thanks,
Dale

RE: Quality Control Manager

Code West produces some fine courses on ASME VIII and IX.

RE: Quality Control Manager

If your in Canada (alberta mostly) CASTI offers alot of great courses.

RE: Quality Control Manager

Go to asme.org. ASME has many great Code training classes for a decent price.

dalea60,
Suggest you should be asking yourself whether the person is the right one seleceted for the exhalted position in the Company if he does not have experience/competency in your Companies area of engineering.

RE: Quality Control Manager

Check out Training Available at the National Board of Boiler & Pressure Vessel Inspectors at www.nationalboard.org.

Thanks for the help.  I'd looked through the ASME courses but didn't see anything specifically for QC.  There are a couple of courses that I've recommended that he attend.

I hadn't thought about the National Board.

What is Code West?

It's not up to me or the person moving into the position about who should be in the position.

Thanks,
Dale

RE: Quality Control Manager

scary; you need someone some how with experience, what you have is a a trainee who wishes or you wish the trainee will do the job but he/she will get you in trouble and possible kill a few.
just my thinking, don't take it personal,
