how ansys shell63 calculate nodal stress from gauss pt for dkt element

how ansys shell63 calculate nodal stress from gauss pt for dkt element

how ansys shell63 calculate nodal stress from gauss pt for dkt element

(OP)
In the ansys menu, it stated: a linear square fitting precedure to calcualte the nodal stress from 12 gauss point of the four discrete kirchhoff element. I tried and the resulting nodal stress do not perfectly match with results althrough I am sure the gauss point stresses are correctly calculated.

Anyone know how ansys do this part?

RE: how ansys shell63 calculate nodal stress from gauss pt for dkt element

I always thought that (in addition to the Gauss points of an element) ANSYS was also figuring the stress at the nodes using the calculated displacements. I always thought that any "fitting" was between these nodes and the Gauss points (I could be mistaken on that).

I would think the error could be due to a variety of reasons (the fitting technique for one).

thanks.

I have figured out the problem. But Ansys does not use the calculated displacement to fit the node.
