ISO 15156 (NACE MR 1075) - 2009 Changes??

ISO 15156 (NACE MR 1075) - 2009 Changes??

ISO 15156 (NACE MR 1075) - 2009 Changes??

(OP)
Howdy all,

I hear that there will be changes to the current spec. For the past years I've been getting valves produced to NACE MR1075 2003. I know that ISO 15156 is the equivalent, but now I hear there will be changes.

Does anyone know how significant these may be? or have a summary of the proposed changes? I don't want to be caught with a bunch of stuff in stock if all of a sudden everyone changes their requirements.

thx for any input!

Hopefully they simplified it. MR0175-2003 is a mess of a document. We have seen many of our customers specifying Valves to MR0103 now since it is like the old MR0175 which only addresses sulfide stress cracking.

Our concern is any valves made or bought in the next few months won't be to spec which shouldn't be too much conern unless there is a serious increase of the requirements.

If that's the case why haven't the changes been reflected in the version number? I found that page of minutes, but it seems that none of the proposed changes have been solidified. We just recently order another copy from ISO and it's still the 2003 version.

There are several corrigenda and technical circulars.  The date of the standard itself still remains at 2003 but the last technical circular was 27th November 2008. It's just a convenient way of not having to go through a very lengthy process of getting the whole standard republished which takes around 6 to 8 months.  If you purchase now, you should be up to date until they either publish a new technical circular or issue a second edition.

After asking around quite a bit it seems that NACE MR 0103 is more applicable and sensible at least in the valves world.

Depends on the end user.  ISO 15156 and MR0103 are for different scopes.
