How to Separate Multibodies?

How to Separate Multibodies?

How to Separate Multibodies?

(OP)
Greetings all,

I have several SWX part files with multiple bodies that came from another CAD system.  I want to separate these multibodies into individual part files, but have not found an easy way to do it.  One SWX part file I have has 332 bodies that are actually separate components of an assembly.  Suppressing/unsuppressing is not appealing when there are this many and when they all have nondescript names such as "Imported332".  Got any ideas?  Perhaps a macro, but I don't know how to write it.

Thanks in advance!

RE: How to Separate Multibodies?

Try something like Insert > Features > Save Bodies and you can then select which bodies you want to save as parts.  If you name each body you want to save first, the body name will become your part name.

RE: How to Separate Multibodies?

In the feature tree, there is a folder called solid bodies.  Right click on this folder.  Within the pop up menu, there is an option to save bodies.  Once you get to this point it is pretty self explanatory.  You can select specific bodies to save out and you can input a proper name.
