Stair Stringer Unbraced Length

Stair Stringer Unbraced Length

Stair Stringer Unbraced Length

(OP)
When designing stair stringers for typical 46" wide steel stairs , do you consider the length of the stringer fully braced by the treads and risers.  In most cases the treads and risers are welded to the stringer with L1.5x1.5.

RE: Stair Stringer Unbraced Length

I have analyzed a lot of stairs for forensics investigations and have designed stair stringers.  I consider the stringers to be fully braced by the treads.

The referenced threads come to essentially the same conclusion.
