NX6: hotkey to rotate view on screen (ie: with arrow keys)?

NX6: hotkey to rotate view on screen (ie: with arrow keys)?

(OP)
In Solidworks, it's possible to rotate a model about the screen axes with the right, left, up, and down arrows.  This is a pretty convenient way to interact with the model...

Is there any way to set up (with keyboard hotkeys maybe) something similar in NX?

CTRL+R merely launches the rotate menu, which requires further interaction.  I'm looking for something where pressing a key would rotate the model on-screen by some small increment.  For example: Right Arrow would rotate the model about the screen axis by 5 degrees (or whatever you want).

Thanks!

RE: NX6: hotkey to rotate view on screen (ie: with arrow keys)?

My first advice is BUY A SPACEBALL!!!!

But if you've got a cheap boss, try pressing MB2 (middle mouse-button) and drag your cursor.

However, if you truly want to do that increment thing about a primary axis, have you ever wondered WHAT that little RED/BLUE/GREEN 'coordinate system' in the bottom left corner of your display (if you haven't turned it off) was REALLY for?  Well, just select one of the axis, enter a value in the text widget and then just keep hitting return key on your keyboard.  And if you don't care about the increment but you just want to confine the rotation to one of the axis, just select it and then hold down MB2 and drag it across the screen.

Well have a look at the hot-key settings under "Customise" that you use to set up tour menus and icons, there is a tab for setting up the hotkeys and if there is an item for what you need then it takes only minutes to set up.

Having said that at a minimum buy a space Navigator if not a Space Pilot, they're much easier to use. The general method then becomes to flip the part over somewhere close to front, top or side on and then hit F8 (which you can also map to a different hotkey if you so desire). Users of 3D pointing devices also have the ability to map such things to function keys of the devices themselves.
