Diffusion of metals

(OP)
Has sombody any idea if there has already been tried difussion of metals into silica-based glasses? And if it has worked out? Any helpful internet-sites and publications are welcome.

RE: Diffusion of metals

I don't know if someone has approached the problem the way you present it, but the systems you're talking about are very analogous to metal/slag systems, which have been studied extensively. Carnegie-Mellon materials department has a center for iron and steel research which has taken on issues like this on a very sophisticated basis.
Try their web site, whose address I don't have , but google.com should bring it up.
