NX6 native doesn't retain network pathway. Failed to find the file.

NX6 native doesn't retain network pathway. Failed to find the file.

(OP)
Here is a brief description of my problem.

I am running NX6 in a native format.

Lets say I have parts in certain folders based on what they are.  For example lets say I have the following folder structure:

s:\cadparts\fasteners
s:\cadparts\centerplates
s:\cadparts\assemblies

I begin a new assembly named "sample_asmb.prt" and save it in this folder "c:\cadparts\assemblies"

With this new assembly I use parts from the
c:\cadparts\fasteners
c:\cadparts\centerplates
to create the assembly.  I close NX6, reopen NX6, reopen sample_asmb.prt and get the following error.

"Failed to find the file using current search options"

Now I have to use the "Replace Component" feature and manually find the parts  to get the model back to where I left it.  If I save all the components in the same folder, I do not have this problem.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks
Keegan

OK, you have two basic options (other than moving all the parts to one folder).  You can go to...

File -> Options -> Assembly Load Options...

...and set the Part Versions 'Load' option to 'As Saved'.

Or you can set up 'From Search Folders', which will look in the various standard's folders to find your parts when you open your assembly, which is much better than duplicating all of your standard parts to each project folder, and it's also helpful if you move your original assembly as it does not care how it was saved, just that when opening, it needs to know where to look to find the components.

Thanks!!!  That was it!

I would recommend that you do use the From Search Folders option and setup a load_options.def file.

Load_options.def will look like this:
s:\cadparts\fasteners
s:\cadparts\centerplates
s:\cadparts\assemblies

In your UGII_ENV.dat file change the UGII_LOAD_OPTIONS= to point to your load_options.def file.
