Does somebody knwo how the TOL corrosion can be calculated in pipelines or does somebody have references to acticles on the web.
I found 1 article from the NACE titled: "Top of Line corrosion and water condensation rates in wet gas pipelines"

In this article it is explained how to calculate the TOL corrosion rate based on the FE++ solubility which is dependent of CO2 pressure and temperature. If you know how to calculate the Fe++ concentration or know a good/cheap program which can do the job, please let me know.

RE: Top Of line corrosion

Apart from the two models mentioned in the paper that aren't cheap, you can get a week's free go with ECE 4 at

As with all models, you need to have some understanding of how it works and its shortcomings in order to make the best use of the results it gives.

Thanks steve.

Do you know if the BP Cassandra model is also included in ECE4?

RE: Top Of line corrosion

No it is not.  ECE 4 is a cousin of Shell's Hydrocor. In any case, it doesn't matter what model you use, you have to understand what it is telling you, not least whether the predicted pipeline hydrodynamics fit the model.

Steve, do you have a reference to a paper wherein the ECE 4 model is described?
