flathead screw mates - anti-flip
flathead screw mates - anti-flip
(OP)
I have been filling a library with fasteners lately. One of the latest is a flathead fastener.
I thought that by using reference mates in the part that i would be able to get around the fact that whenever you drop a flathead onto a c'sunk hole it always goes in upside down and you have to flip it.
I thought that a coincident mate between the surface of the cone of the fastener and the cone of the hole would do it, along with a concentric mate on the barrel of the fastener. ( I did have a coincident mate on the bottom edge of the fastener cone as well that i have since removed) None of this works.
Even with a single mate just on the cones places the fastener upside down. It seems to be using the edge and not the surface. But, .....WHY....why the bottom edge?? why not the top?? not that i care but, it is definitely not using the "surface".
It is very annoyingly consistent.
Can someone please let me know which reference mates will work as they should.
thanx

I personally left mate references off flat head screws to manually add a coincident mate from the screw bevel to the countersink.
