RE: How to get LEED Certificate?

To become a LEED accredited professional you have to go through the USGBC (United States Green Building Council) or CAGBC if you live in Canada.  You just have to complete the reading material and write a test.  Depending on whether you are already in the industry or not you may have to complete some training prior to taking the test.  Go to www.usgbc.org for more information.

RE: How to get LEED Certificate?

LEED v3 is a 4 hour test now - the first half is similar to the old LEED v2.2 exam.

The LEED AP designation is supposedly much harder to obtain - mainly so only those that will actually be involved in the LEED design work will have the AP designation.

Of course the pre V3 LEED AP's are grandfathered.

RE: How to get LEED Certificate?

The USGBC offers a variety of courses, including online and webinars. http://www.usgbc.org/DisplayPage.aspx?CMSPageID=283

I think it is great that they are keeping the guidelines strict on obtaining LEED certification. Exam prep is, of course, necessary, but remember that professionals should also carry an ethical responsibility to keep themselves updated and educated as much as possible. i.e. take as many courses and do a lot of self-study in order to be as fully knowledgeable as possible, not just so that you can pass the test.
