Dear, ''normal'' we use 1 till max. 3 threads / windings above the nut, for / under normal conditions. But in which specification ASME, DIN, API etc. is this been noted. I can't find it, your help is wanted.

For taper threads look in ASME B1.20.1 Part 3.1.7 and Table 2
