How to hide a list

How to hide a list

How to hide a list

(OP)
Hi,

Here's what I'm working with:

http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t282/Calc_photos/ExcelHelp01.jpg

I have made a list of the different temperatures using Data>Validation. Using vlookup I've connected the temp with the yield stress values.
I would like to hide the grayed out values.
How can this be accomplished?

Thank you.

RE: How to hide a list

Can you put the table on another sheet and then use format sheet to hide that sheet?

I don't think that's possible when using Validation..

RE: How to hide a list

You can put the data on another sheet (see the second example I sent).  You have to type the area because the data validation will not let you choose another sheet.

The trick is give a name to the range in the other sheet.

For example attached in sheet2 I highlighted A1:A8 and typed insert/name/create/TopRow.

Then in sheet 1 data validation tab in list box I put =TempData.

Then as stated sheet 2 could be hidden if desired.
