Fanuc RS232 Error: BG806 Device type mismatch error

Fanuc RS232 Error: BG806 Device type mismatch error

Fanuc RS232 Error: BG806 Device type mismatch error

(OP)
Hi All,
I am having an RS232 Communication Alarm: BG806 Device type mismatch error.

I restored factory parameters on a Fanuc 15M-A from a backup file. When I send a program to or from the machine at the end of the data transfer I get this alarm. If I go and look at the program for example from the PC to the machine. It loaded correctly and runs fine. I played with all the communications parameters for a few hours trying different things with no luck.

The machine has two RS232 input devices. Both the RS232 and a tape reader. The RS232 port is plugged into I believe CD4A port and Tape is CD4B.

Any ideas how to fix this error?

Thanks

Jamey

i/o device net. maybe?
Try http://www.fanucrobotics.com/ and check in the "CRC online site" for the error code.

I'd start by putting a scope on the wires and look for the correct number of bits in a word, stuff like that.

By any chance are you using a new programming software and trying to load the new program?

RE: Fanuc RS232 Error: BG806 Device type mismatch error

make sure the pin out is correct
what type of cable being used?
make sure the comunication software speed is not higher than the machine example "1500 baud"

for serial connections the max distance from pc to machine must be not more than allowed distance.

is it USB to serial type connection?
software error.

Thanks for the replies guys!

I have used my USB to serial adapter, RS232 cable and a couple software packages for RS232 that I have used many many times in the past. So I am not a Newbie in setting communications up nor do I have faulty equipment. I've used it all since then as well on other machines.

Not sure how I would use a scope, nor do I have one. Fanucs description is pretyy generic and does not give me any input really on it. The customer at this time has no problem just hitting reset when it is done transfering the programs, as thats all that has to be done. The program loads fine. So he does not want to pay me to come in to get rid of the minor bug at this time. So I am looking for options to have him try over the phone for now.

The reason I asked about the new software was because I had a similar incident occur a few years back with the same result; an alarm but easily remedied. More of a nuisance than anything. The problem was with a new CAM package that used a post processor that we hadn't yet completely customized. It kept putting a character into the lines of code (I don't remember what it was) that the pendant would exclude but it was in the code that was generated by the PC.
