I get this error when trying to launch SW on a spare machine see attachment.  My regular machine and a few others are fine.  Another guy here has the same problem and after several reinstalls has not been able to fix it.  He has just been living with it.  After a few try's it will launch and then sometimes launches then immediately crashes.  The only advice our VAR could offer is reinstall.

The spare machine has the same hardware and software as in my signature.

Im about to request our IT guy format the machines and reinstall everything as I have know other idea.

Anyone have any suggestions?

RE: sldresu.dll

Grant,

per the SW knowledge base:

Solution Id: S-038704
Area: FAQ
Product: SolidWorks 2009
Sub-Area: Crash
Question: sldresu.dll failed to load while trying to start SolidWorks 2009 x64 after Windows Update installed Internet Explorer 8 (IE8)

Answer: This could be another symptom of having IE 8 installed related to S-036457 and SPR 480083

Resolution:
Uninstalling IE 8 and performing a clean reinstall of SolidWorks has proven to resolve the issue.

Don't know how closely this will tie in with your machine without knowing if it has IE8 installed, but there are known issues between SW 2009 x64 and IE8.

Well it's atleast a start.  I do believe IE8 is on there.

You would think our VAR would suggest that...man we ought to just donate the money we pay the VAR to this site our.  VAR is about useless.

I'll give it a go tommrrow and report back.

Thanks!!

Uninstalled IE8 and SW09 x64 reinstalled sw09 x64 and upgraded to sp1.  All is fine so far shut down and restarted a few times no errors.  Hopefully that was the problem.  If not I'll repost.

Thanks Dekker for the tip.  We dropped all but one of our subscriptions this past year so I was not able to search SW knowledge base.  This websites just as good if not better for resolving SW issues and getting tips.

Again thanks.
