Clearing out legacy sketch data to reduce file size.
Clearing out legacy sketch data to reduce file size.
(OP)
Hi,
Im currently just doing 2D layouts SLDPRT Sketching and Ive noticed that just in sketches the files can accrue a size SW doesnt like (i.e over 1Mb per sketch). Thereafter I split the sketch into separate models, i.e. delete 80% of the number of lines in the sketch, but the file size remains the same.
How do I clear out "legacy" sketch data, now I have finished the assy layouts and moving on to individualising the part modelling.
I tried opening and closing the file / multiple save loops without success.
Note I am a beginner.
:)

Under the Products link, hit the EcoSqueeze link to see what it does and whether this will help out in your case.

Are you trying to layout everything in one sketch?

I have to say i dont fancy eco squeeze! sounds a bit risky for my conservative soul, nothing from autocad, have renamed the big sketch and created offshoot models, deleted all the lines not pertaining to the child models, but the file size stays the same.
It was a industry standard layout sketch so everything was on there to begin with, (or is there another method i should be using?)

We can't offer an alternative method when we don't know the method you used.
What is an "industry standard layout sketch"?

What industry? We all work in many different industries.
All please post a screen shot of what you are typically work with. Then we can offer you solutions when we can see what you are actually doing, as opposed to guessing.
Even in automotive you could be talking exteriors, interiors, chassis, electrical, the engine/trans group, etc. Or maybe you are working on plant designs for automotive. Or maybe the equipment/tools that go in the plant. Or the stamping that is used to make body panels that get assembled in the plant.

Have you taken a look at the Layout sketch tool in .SLDASM it may be a better method of achieving your intent.
