Dear Pump Engineers,
I want to know about functionality of  suction bell, suction case and discharge case. Please help me.
    Thanks.

RE: suction bell, suction case and discharge case

A suction bell is like a reducer and is designed to help guide the fluid into the suction pipe. The results in lower friction losses.

I not sure what you mean by suction and discharge CASE. Normally we refer to the suction pipes or manifold and the discharge pipes. Possibly you mean the pump casing which is the body of the pump connecting the suction to the discharge.

Thanks. I would like to clarify that shape wise all these three are very close to one another.

Whats you question Singh? I believe oth88 answered your question well enough.

Actually I want to know about construction, fuction, "where are these used" with some example, possible resources on web and books.
Thank for caring.

RE: suction bell, suction case and discharge case

The term 'case' may be misleading. Typical centrifugal and gear type pumps usually have a flange or connection for suction and discharge piping and this forms the hydraulic passage for the fluid. The suction bell is used for submerged suction to guide the flow into the impeller or where the end of suction pipe needs requires it to eliminate the edge effect of the pipe.
If you post more specific details, such as type of pump, you can get better responses. Afterall, only our bosses should expect us engineers to read minds.
