Hi Guys, I am working on Unigraphics (NX6). troubled with surfacing
Hi Guys, I am working on Unigraphics (NX6). troubled with surfacing
(OP)
I am using NX6. I am trying to use n-surface i m not getting smooth surface. also i tried section surface but i am unable to select spine curve. Can someone please help ?
Can this be because the curves i was trying to do surface are not in single plane ?
Can some advise where i can find prcatical example files for surface models to use these options practically.
I have put the screen shot of the problem

N sided surface wouldn't be the best place to start, there are usually other options that are preferable.
Practical examples are a little hard to come by...
A training course would be a good idea; however Siemens training material doesn't tend to go in to great depth. The training material tends to cover the use of each feature in isolation rather than how you model a complete part using a variety of features. This forum is a good start. You can always look on the web for surfacing examples – they don't have to be NX, the principles are often similar and transportable between systems.

If on the other hand you may be attempting to build this from a mesh, perhaps some kind of scan, then you're going about it all wrong. There are hints of a complete lack of separation between slabs and corner radii. In that case you need to isolate the slabs, overbuild them to intersections and then work in some blends to suit. The blends I'm speaking of may need to be mesh surfaces in fact, but you gain a lot more control over the results if you're able to do it as I describe simply because the surface curvature changes more in some areas than others and your intent would I presume to be to control that.
If you're stuck you need also to decide whether it is an engineering surface or a styled product being modelled for aesthetics as well as function. I'm happy to be contacted to help you with that if needs be.

I am trying to load the part file but i have been unsucessful in loading the file. it shows it is loading but ends with error.
I have tried after compressing the file but didn't get any better.

Thanks for your advise. I did try it with mesh surface but as u can see one half is continuous but gap does not bridge smooth enough. that's why i was trying n surface.

Thanks for your advise. you are correct. I have this as various scanned curves and trying to make a smooth surface out of those curves. I tried mesh surface, bridge surface but didn't get smooth surface. then i was trying n-surface & section surface options ( swoop, etc.). In that there is a step where you have to select the spine. but i am unable to select spine. I wondered why?
Is section surface is meant for creating surface in single plane?
