Manufacturing question regarding angle heads.

Manufacturing question regarding angle heads.

(OP)
Hi all,
I'm using NX5

I am trying to use a 90 degree head in my NX file.
I will be using this angle head on a 5-axis machine center.

I have everything set up just fine, my post is working great except for ONE thing.

The cutcom plane code.
You know, G17, G18 and G19.

NX does not recognize the 90 degree head it seems.

For simplicity sake, the part is a cube, with 3 holes, one hole on each face.

I have ONE tool, in a 90 degree head. The tables will move around to orient the holes perp to the spindle.

Now, seeing as the tool never moves, I shoud get the same Cutcom plane for all 3 operations, right? The tool is always in the G19 plane, it never changes.

Instead, NX is outputing a different plane code for each op and it will not function in this manner. The cutter compensation will not be successful.

Does this sound familiar to anyone?

J
