Transfering a parent assy component to a sub assy

Transfering a parent assy component to a sub assy

Transfering a parent assy component to a sub assy

(OP)
I just want to transfer a screw called out at the wrong level to the daughter sub-assembly it belongs on.
1. I can't do that because its part of a pattern. Why can't I just select the primary-pattern-part, transfer IT, and have the others follow?
2. This is the text of the S-E help:
If the EdgeBar tool is not displayed, on the Main toolbar, click the EdgeBar button.

On the Assembly PathFinder tab, click the pattern which you want to drop.

On the shortcut menu, click Drop Pattern.

 Tips

This command is only available when the Apply Edits To All Members option on the Alternate Assemblies tab is set (you are working globally).
The 1st 2 steps were a breeze- find the pattern, and where to look. Ok, no problem. 3rd step "click drop pattern". ??? Couldn't find it on the shortcut menu. Is the ICON too complicated to show it in the help as a reference to what to look for? Sometimes tool-tips work, sometimes not. We're used to that. Q: Where is "drop pattern"? Is where and how to find it too complex to include in help? OH-wait--- its only available "when the Apply Edits..." ???
Is where to find THIS too complex to show in help? How about a sticky note with the info if most don't always need it, but some of us haven't memorized all settings yet?

The boss (claiming 6+years w/ S-E ) says don't fool with that, just delete it and reinsert it where you need it!!!I still need to know how to do this, but now I have to sneak around to find out how.

Any Suggestions?

RE: Transfering a parent assy component to a sub assy

If you right click on the pattern in the Edge Bar (Assembly Pathfinder), the short-cut menu will appear and you should see drop-pattern there.  If not, I can't begin to guess why not.

What this is going to do for you is get rid of the pattern and create separate instances of each component that were in the pattern.  Then, you can move the components around between sub-assemblies.
Most likely, if you want the bolt in the subassebly, and the part driving the pattern is also in the sub assembly, you'll want to do what your boss said and delete the pattern & original part and re-insert the part & recreate the pattern in the sub assembly.
