How to see more in Section View?

How to see more in Section View?

How to see more in Section View?

(OP)
Hi Guys

I'm laying out sections in drafting but really need to see more than the section view shows.
Let me explain. I have a plate in the Y-Z axis with other plates running along the X axis which butt into the first plate - it doesn't pass through, it stops at the surface. If I take a section through the Y-Z axis i can see one plate or the other but really want to see both. Is there a way to use a normal section but show say 5-10mm either side of the section line? I know you can do it with unfolded section view but I was hoping to do it using the standard section view command and maybe use clipping planes?
Has anyone done this before?
Thanks in advance
