I have an unbalance amerage on the 3 phase

I have an unbalance amerage on the 3 phase

(OP)
I have a caterpillar 550f generator which is 500KVA and 400Kw  at my main distribution panel one of my 3 phase breaker s one leg is 1.5 amps and the other two are 36.8 & 37.2  I have check the loads and each ac unit is on so is this a load imbalance and since it is a star star does that effect it   I am using european standars and 50Hz cycle?
Please help[  why iis it so unbalanced.

RE: I have an unbalance amerage on the 3 phase

Yep, the sum of the unbalanced load will travel through your neutral so as long as it is able to handle that current.....

RE: I have an unbalance amerage on the 3 phase

That looks more like single phase loading. Have your A/C compressors cycled off leaving only single phase fans online?

Distribute the aircon units in 3 phases. I assume you have more than 3 units.

We are having another USO concert for the Soldiers and the 220 outlets on stage are on another generator and I am having the same problem with the 1 phase not balanced. At the last consert this blew up the musicians equipment and the Soldiers lost out on their concert.  I know this a/c unit on this MDB is having compressor problems  what is the next step for this unbalanced phase.

RE: I have an unbalance amerage on the 3 phase

You need to bring in a professional electrical engineer to take a look at your load and connection patterns physically. This is so that you are not misguided by what we say here.

RE: I have an unbalance amerage on the 3 phase

From what I have heard about the quality of the wiring in the US installations and what you are telling us, my advice is to stay out of the showers.

Hi guys. I have posted a question... when we were having difficulties in troubleshooting the unbalanced phases.  This was a serious question and I do not feel Sgt. Ryan's family would think this to be a joking subject based on the inappropiate statement made by waross.  Some people have to be a smart ass anyhow right?

RE: I have an unbalance amerage on the 3 phase

Yes, you posted a question.

The question tells us that you do have a problem with a potentially lethal electric installation.

Your description of the situation does not allow any conclusions to be drawn with any certainty and the answers tell you to get professional help before someone gets killed.

I have also, as has Bill, seen US installations that are beyond belief (Bill is in Canada and I am in Sweden) and, given that kind of experience, we do not like the idea that your Ryan family be exposed to experiments that may be the result of what you read (and possibly misinterpret) here.

Bill's recommendation was not a joke. It was a serious recommendation given so as to avoid accidents before you have got the help you need. Be prepared to pay for it.

To the OP.

Get professional help. You need it given the public safety aspect. This is not a problem to be solved by getting on-line tips.

Thank you Edison123  we have resolved this issue.  we had tried several different options and we had an army engineer tell us that the generator had to be taken offline .  We have exchanged it and all is working good.

haristy

Glad that you could resolve the issues. Always glad to hear stories with happy endings. :)

RE: I have an unbalance amerage on the 3 phase

Ditto.

RE: I have an unbalance amerage on the 3 phase

There was a report in a trade magazine a few months ago concerning the grossly incompetent wiring done by one US contractor at military installations in Iraq. 18 soldiers have been electrocuted in showers. According to the report, criminal charges are possible.

RE: I have an unbalance amerage on the 3 phase

Dear haristy;
When I posted my reply, I was not aware of any incident involving Sgt. Ryan. My apologies and regrets.
Had I known I would have been more diplomatic in my reply. You know by now, be very careful of, and around any wiring on a recent overseas US installation, whether military or civil.
The good news is that it was also reported that a group of qualified electricians has been hired and sent overseas to try to avert similar issues in the future. Let us pray that they are in time to avert any more tragedies.
Yours
Bill
