Carnegie Clevis #5

Carnegie Clevis #5

Carnegie Clevis #5

(OP)
Would anyone know where to find the capacity of a Carnegie #5 Clevis manufactured in 1923?

RE: Carnegie Clevis #5

Almost any steel should stand work stresses (service level) 110 MPa tensile, 7 MPa shear. If in other material, check.

RE: Carnegie Clevis #5

Don't know about the capacity but you can get the dimensions and calculate.  Download the 1923 Carnegie Pocket Companion at www.slideruleera.net

The dimensions of the #5 Clevis match those in my 2nd Edition Steel Manual (1934).  I still can't seem to get a hold of that 1st edition!  The allowable working stresses from the 2nd edition are attached.

Make sure you find a post somewhere from slideruleera and give him a star.  He deserves it for putting this stuff where we can get it!
