Limitamp Contactor Failure to Open

Limitamp Contactor Failure to Open

Limitamp Contactor Failure to Open

(OP)
We have a lineup of several 5kV limitamp contactors (~16 yrs old now).  They are in a clean environment and maintenance done on this equipment routinely.  Start-stop operations are not excessive on this equipment.  We have just had a second occurrence of a motor not shutting down when the stop, E-stop or other interlocks/protection calls for a shutdown.  The problem for both has been traced back to the mechanical interlock which prevents someone from opening the disconnect handle while the contactor is pulled in.  Specifically, the brain box and the sensor bar combination tend to get hung up on both of the units.  Does anyone have any similar problems?  Thanks.

RE: Limitamp Contactor Failure to Open

I haven't seen that exact problem, but the older limitamps we use have trouble racking the contactor back in after throwing the disconnect. Those linkages can be a nightmare.
