NX6 .prt to TCVis 2007 .jt translations - limit of components used?

NX6 .prt to TCVis 2007 .jt translations - limit of components used?

Quick question - if I am attempting to run a translation of NX6 .prt files to TCVis 2007 .jt format - is there an upper limit of the number of .prt files that can be translated via the run_ugtopv program?

RE: NX6 .prt to TCVis 2007 .jt translations - limit of components used?

Theoretically I haven't heard of such a thing or if there is then it isn't the limit that you need to be mindful of. The limit would be the data size when trying to do large assemblies in one hit. Effectively the likelihood is that you may simply run out of memory. I have never actually hit such limits even with some thousands of components.

What Version are you using and what sort of numbers of components are we talking about?

If you are to get stuck then what you could do is structure your larger assemblies in a more or less modular fashion to create a small number of top assemblies under the main "master" assembly. If you have four such modules you're effectively quartering the task, and then you'll find that you can create four JT assemblies and add them into a master JT file manually.

Thanks Hudson - I may have to do the manual assembly procedure that you mentioned in your last sentence.  Trouble with trying to do tasks when half the staff is on holiday is losing the knowledge base of the department.

RE: NX6 .prt to TCVis 2007 .jt translations - limit of components used?

Okay if that is what you intend to do the best way to go about it is to create the JT files of the assemblies which actually output numbers of files and then save a plmxml file of each. I think that probably provides a quicker way to overlay what I would call the modules (sub assemblies) of a master assembly.
