cropping a standard view

I work with long parts (100:1 aspect) and sometimes it is desirable to show just a left side or right side view; in other words, a view with only half of the break line.  What is the best way to do this and the ANSI standard way?

Crop only works with a section view; I can make a break and slide it all the way to the end, beyond the part (showing an empty left or right side); I can also make an Detail "circle" using an oval.  Any others?

RE: cropping a standard view

Crop works with any type of view.

Hi Handleman,

I could be doing something wrong here (don't think so...) but if I simply select a view or sketch a circle in the view, the "crop view" icon and menu drop greys out for me.  This goes for the "main view" and projection views.  The exception to this is in my section views where the crop icon can still be selected.

I am running 2006, you think this is the issue?  I haven't explored much with "locked views" etc, maybe I am missing something....

RE: cropping a standard view

Did you "break" the view first?  You can't add a crop to a broken view. If not , it should work.

Excellent!  That was it....thanks all.
