Island Life

(OP)
Here I am on a small south pacific Island w/out access to Ashrae...what are the best practices for HVAC design here? I see a lot of seatting walls and rusting duct. Whats best: Alum duct, flex duct, sstl, corrosion restiant coatings on equipment. Its 89 deg and 80RH here most of the time.

RE: Island Life

What is  "seatting walls"?

Galvanized sheet metal for plenum and ducting!!For ducting, I would explore fibreglass tubing.

And about looking at past practices of indeginous people, they may offer alternative, cost effective and energy efficient solutions

RE: Island Life

If direct exposure to the sun can be avoided, plastic spring-wire-wrapped tubing seems lightest, easiest to compress and ship with the smallest shipping size for ducting.

Duct tape - of course.

Probably too humid for swamp coolers.   But that will start you off until real HVAC becomes available.
