Theatre screen masking system

Theatre screen masking system

(OP)

Hi All,

Very new here, so please forgive me if this is the wrong forum.

Im trying to build a motorised gating system for our theatre for work and Im having troubles trying to word the questions I need to ask someone to help me out.

My problem is this.

I have found all the info i need to build a system using a linear actuator that I can control via IR that will allow me to move the gates up and down so I can manually position them for a desired film aspect ratio, but what I really want to achieve is a system that is still controlled via IR that has certain "points" set giving me the standard aspect ratios of a film.

For example:

The screen is 3200mm wide screen in a 16:9 format giving me 1800mm height overall.

I would then like to be able to set the following ratios at a touch of the button
1:85 ratio =  1729mm height
2:40 ratio =  1333mm height
2:35 ratio =  1361mm height

This is my problem, Im not sure how I would go about building a system that will let me program certain positions on the actuator, and from any position let me go to another position, also giving me an override to allow me to manually position the gate anywhere I want.

Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

Ive attatched a video of the concept of the design showing the actuator on the bottom

Warm Regards

Dave

Could really use some details. like the actuator you're using, the controls for it, etc.
