(OP)
COULD SOMEONE TELL ME ANYTHING ABOUT A-81R? I CANT FIND ANYTHING ON IT. AND IAM TRYING TO CROSS REFERANCE IT.IT IS STAMPED ON A FLANGE THAT WAS INSTALLED IN THE EARLY 50'S.

RE: looking for imformation on material A-81R

If this is a flange, it could be ASTM A 81, which was withdrawn in 1972 with no replacement, and is Specification for Wrought Iron.

See the list below of withdrawn ASTM Standards

One other option is to have a portable chemical analysis (or PMI)performed on the flange along with portable hardness testing to type the flange material. This is easy enough to do using a local material test lab that has field testing capability.
