Yes.

We've found that seals make poor welders.  Their flippers can't grip the gun well, and it's too much overhead in fish and ice to keep them happy.

Not to mention the language barrier, although many of our human-like welders seem to communicate mainly with squeals and grunts...

Depends on what Code you are using.  ASME Section III, NB-4360 imposes many more requirements on the seal weld than a simple fillet.
