Modified Dimensions

Modified Dimensions

Modified Dimensions

(OP)
Hi All,

I have a rather large project. Basically involves many hundreds of windows, although the profiles are the same the overall dimensions are not. The models and subsequent drafts were easy to generate.
To simplify I had chosen a route that used a simplified part model with cutouts to represent the glazing pockets etc. It's this that has caused me problems.
Normally I would create, sheetmetal profiles, glazing and parts, then assembly all. I could then create a BOM and extract the glazing sizes etc, but this time (due to financial restraints) I chose the simplified route above.
The problem I have now is I need to extract the glazing sizes for each window.
I thought I could create the draft and dimension the pocket size and add a subfix2 and pre-define a formula to calculate the glass size from the pocket dimension
i.e.
Pocket Width = 400mm : Glass Size 400-10 = 390mm

But for the life of me I cannot figure away of doing this without messing with the variables for each dimension, which is more time consuming than creating a spreadsheet and typing the sizes

Any help with automating this conundrum would be worth a star bigsmile

See attached very basic sample

RE: Modified Dimensions

Are you saying you already have all the drawings done, but want to add the subfix to each?
If so, the only way is to do each one individually.

Thanks FannyCZ, Yes I understand your method and could implement the procedure if I were to start again.

Yes Beachcomber, unfortunately I have, in error.
I never really though the simplified process through, just one of the moments of clarity that had a major fog-bank lurking.
What I normally do in situations like this is create a typical assembly with all the parts, then the draft. I then associate an excel spreadsheet to manipulate the sizes and away I go.
Live and learn.
